Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease where the body is unable to control/normalise the glucose level in the blood. This is due to the loss of  insulin (a hormone that regulates the glucose level in the blood) production or poor quality insulin production. Over time the high blood glucose level can cause serious health problems such as heart disease, vision loss and kidney disease. Do get yourself checked and treated quickly if you do have the condition.

Hypertension

Hypertension is a condition in which the blood vessel have persistently raised pressure. 5% of the time, the cause of hypertension is due to hormonal abnormalities which are treatable. Persistent elevated blood pressure can lead to an increased risk of heart disease, kidney disease and stroke. Drop by to find out more about the secondary cause of hypertension and how to get it tested and treated.

Adrenal Disorders

The adrenal gland are small, shaped like triangles and are located just above each kidney. Their job is to make hormones that are needed to keep your metabolism, blood pressure, immune system and stress response in balance. Pituitary Disorders

The pituitary gland is also known as the "master" gland of the endocrine system as it controls the function of many of the other endocrine glands. Located near the brain, it is no larger than a pea. Nonetheless, problems in this gland due to abnormalities such as tumour, inflammation, bleeding etc can cause complications in hormone regulation in the body. Blood tests and if needed, MRI of the brain, may be able to detect abnormalities in the pituitary gland.
